My Not That Exciting but Perfectly Fine Life

Painting....again

Today I painted the dining room. One wall is tomato red and the other walls are pumpkin orange. We're not very happy with the way the red went on so we're thinking about sponge/bag painting the pumpkin orange over the red and perhaps adding a chocolate brown to the mix. We'll see what happens. Perhaps I'll post a picture later.

I'm headed to a cookie making gathering tonight. It should be fun. I imagine I'll break my diet and have a little chocolate.

It's hard to believe next week is Thanksgiving! Time sure does fly...even if you're not having fun. More so though when you are having fun. I'm headed to Bloomington to be with the Pontius family...my home away from home. It will be weird without Claire and John this year. I imagine we'll catch them on skype.

In other news, I just learned this week that Peter is going to get to come home for Christmas before he heads to Afganistan in January. I'm absolutely thrilled about that!

Not much else going on here at the moment...at least that I can think of. So, until next time.

Road Trip to PA

A few weeks ago Angie and I took a road trip to see Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ken in their new home! It was a great weekend! We had fun shopping on Saturday downtown Pittsburg on the strip. There were tons of little shops with lots of fun things ranging from food to any kind of trinket you could ever want. We ended the evening by going out for pizza and yes, doing a little bit more of shopping in one of the local malls. Sunday we went to church in the morning and then drove to another town that was close by to walk by the river. It was a beautiful little walk. We took a little break to enjoy the setting sun...that' what Uncle Ken and Aunt Nancy are doing in the picture below.

This picture is us doing shadow art! Oh what fun it is to play in the sun! Can you guess who is who?

I'm Online at Home Now!

Well, I'm finally online at home which hopefully means I'll be able to keep up on my blog a lot better. There's always plenty to write about, but I don't find that I want to stick around at work after hours in order to update my blog.

My roommate and I had quite the adventure last weekend when we woke up to a flooded basement due to the sump pump malfunctioning. There was about 3 inches of standing water in some areas and boy was it cold to my bare feet! Looking back now it's a miricle that neither one of us got electrocuted. There were several items plugged in, including my TV, VCR and DVD player which was plugged into a power strip that was on the floor almost covered in water! We quickly unplugged it and when Angie picked it up it was hot to touch and had actually melted in some parts. SCARY! Praise God for looking out for us and protecting us!

Thankfully, not much was damaged from the water. I threw out a pillow and a blanket, but I think that's all. Only a portion of the basement got flooded which is a very good thing. My furniture wasn't harmed and we were able to get the water out of there with an emergency sump pump very quickly. We sucked the water out of the carpet with a carpet cleaner and then ripped it up and dried it out. It doesn't have an oder and it dried nicely, so we're going to put it back down.

Rachael, my friend and mentor, loaned me her AirSource (which helped purify the air) and some cleaning solution from Shaklee since she sells Shaklee products. So, I'm quite thankful for that and am so happy to know that the chances of bacteria and mold growing now are extremely less because of the Shaklee products I borrowed. You can learn all about Shaklee products at Rachael's website: www.shaklee.net/rmasten.
